So most of my family doesn't get to go to chemo with my Mom so I thought I would share with you what goes on at a day of chemo! Lots of waiting!
Here we are in the waiting room. We are usually there at 8:45am waiting for our 9:00am appointment.
Before you see the doctor you have to have your blood taken along with your weight, blood pressure and heart rate. This day her Gamma was low which is contributing to her low energy.
Now we get to wait for the doctor...yes more waiting! Then he does an exam and sends us off to the infusion room for chemo.
This is Mom getting "hooked up" for her infusion...usually we wait to get hooked up. Mom doesn't have a "port" so she has to get poked for an IV every time.
Now we sit and wait for the chemo to run! My Dad usually sleeps and I chat with my Mom!
These are the 2 bags of rituxan we are taking now...for the next 2 years!! It usually takes 3+ hours for these 2 bags which is better than the 5+ hours we used to do with the Cytoxan and Rituxan!
Unfortunately the Doctor told us at our last appointment that because her cancer is Stage 4 she may never be "cancer free". We will just try to shrink the tumors and keep the "cancer levels" as low as we can get them with her conservative treatment plan. Not exactly what we wanted to hear.

Even though the conditions SUCK!
I'm sure you will always remember the hours you got to spend with your parents. I know my mom sure remembers all the things she learned about her dad through the countless trips to chemo. Your mom and dad are very lucky to have you!

You are so awesome for going to chemo with them every time. You guys should call me when you go cause I work every Friday so I'm there anyway and would love to come hang out for a few. Your the best!
It brings back so many memories.. I KNOW that you are building lasting memories whether good or bad you were there to share them with your parents. Something that can't be replaced.. You are in the right place at the right time.
Love ya,
Carol
