Where Were You A Decade Ago...

I was getting ready to have my little Eric Hunter! After a miserable pregnancy all summer long in TEXAS HEAT I was too scared to be ready to have this baby all by myself! I woke up at 4:30 am and knew he was coming but was in denial til Eric forced me to get in the car at 7:30am. It was raining that morning but was still 80 degrees! We got to the hospital at 8:00 am and he was born after much distress at 10:59am weighing 8lbs 1oz! There is the short version of how Eric Hunter came into this world 10 years ago!

Many people ask why did you name him Eric Hunter instead of Hunter Eric? There is a real meaning to his name...we weren't just trying to be cool! Here is the meaning behind the name Eric Hunter...Eric's Grandpa Crandall along with his Aunt Julie & Uncle Eric were killed in a truck/train accident in the early '60's. Eric was named Eric Crandall Satterthwaite after his Uncle Eric Hunter Crandall of which the middle name Hunter is Grandma Leah Crandall's Maiden name. So we decided to continue with tradition and name our baby Eric Hunter Satterthwaite and he goes by Hunter...

So I REALLY hate it when people write on their blogs "I can't believe my baby is turning 2,3,4 yrs old he is all grown up now!" Honestly 2, 3, 4 years old is not grown up! How about when your baby is a DECADE old! Yep, Hunter will be 10 years old on October 30th!

The Birthday Celebration(s) began on Sunday with a party with the Satterthwaite side of the family. He was super excited to get new Bakugan's and International Soccer Jersey's! Thanks everyone! We will continue with a dinner out with just us on Thursday, a friend party on Saturday that involves taking 10--4th grade boys to a football game, and a Boyle Family party on Sunday! The Parents You Hate...

Hunter always comes up with an awesome idea for his Valentine's Day box and this year was no different. He thought up the idea and Eric helped him make a Moto Cross track for his box this year! It was awesome with sound effects and all! Good job!

I Did Agree....

In a previous post I mentioned that H was interested in Moto Cross racing but I didn't think he would actually participate in an actual race....but he did. Last Saturday he raced twice and did so good for his first time. I was so nervous and just wanted him to be safe. It was hot and dusty and he spent 12 hours at the track. Way to go H...I'm proud of you!

Did I Say Yes?

Hunter loves riding 4-wheelers and occasionall

y a motorcylce but now he wants to race motocross. He has been to the track a few times but now he is serious about racing. He went to the track on Friday and had a very bad wreck and flew over the handle bars. He has a good size bruise on his stomach and scrapes on his arm. This picture is Hunter jumping on a makeshift track at the Satterthwaite's. He is good at racing but rides soooooooooooo fast. Did I really say he could do this?

Hunter and I were very happy with the Superbowl Game! He wore his Peyton Manning Jersey and his Colts hat yesterday. He was a little under the weather but watched the entire game. We were a little nervous after the opening kick off but we knew Peyton would come through for us! Go Colts!

Encore! Encore!

Today I had to speak at my Hunter's baptism. I am generally not afraid to speak in public as I am in a public office. I have worked in a corporate setting and given presentations to VP's of DuPont and Tyco. I speak (and argue) at City Council meetings with developers, landowners, government officials, etc. However speaking today in front of all my family, my in-laws, my current bishop, my former bishop was putting me over the edge. I kept my remarks short and got to talk about Hunter and that is what pulled me through. I am very thankful that the Mom's no longer speak at missionary farewells because I would need medication. I hope Hunter had a memorable day despite my insecurites. He has a wonderful spirit about him and he (and Sydney) are what get me through my days.
